This second story addition was built to create a master bedroom suite and office upstairs and to take advantage of the views of the valley out the front and the finely planned and manicured yard to the back. The 1950s design had a very small and dark feel to the on the interior accentuated by the low ceilings. We opened up the living room of the house by creating a two story space utilizing the stairway and added light and air by topping the stairwell with an operable skylight. Another benefit to the layout was the added second story bookshelves outside of the new office. The bathroom was finished in a calming blue with matching glass tile accents throughout.
