Founded in Amherst, Massachusetts, Teagno Construction, Inc. began in 1974 as a sole proprietorship under Donald J. Teagno. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts with an English degree, Teagno briefly pursued teaching before pivoting to his natural talents in carpentry. What started as small residential remodels and local projects, including converting a barn into the local Rusty Scupper Restaurant, rapidly grew through word of mouth and a reputation for meticulous craftsmanship.

Following its official incorporation in 1985, Teagno Construction, Inc. spent the next several decades building a diverse operational framework, carving out a unique niche in complex, highly customized, specialized construction work and historic preservation.

Teagno Construction, Inc. (TCI) entered a new era of leadership when long-time employees David Tynan and Daniel Dones acquired the business from the retiring former owner. Building on the firm’s 40-year legacy in Amherst, both partners rose through the ranks after working together in the field. Tynan brings a background in business and finance alongside 17 years of experience at TCI, while Dones pairs deep roots in the construction industry with a background in military service.

Today, TCI operates as a premier, full-service general contractor specializing in high-end residential and commercial projects throughout the Pioneer Valley. The company maintains a tight-knit internal team of approximately 15 employees, and directly manages all carpentry and project supervision while partnering with major subcontractors for specialized heavy lifting.

As the industry faces evolving federal building and energy efficiency regulations, TCI actively helps clients navigate the cost implications of these strict new codes to keep projects within budget without sacrificing architectural vision or quality.
